Your First Order & Delivery: How It Works
Welcome to The Dirt Store! If you’ve never ordered a bulk delivery of soil, mulch, or stone before, you might wonder how the process works. We make everything from ordering to unloading simple and stress-free.
Here is exactly what to expect from the moment you pick your material to the day it arrives at your property.
Phase 1: Ordering & Scheduling
1. Choose Your Material
Browse our selection of high-quality loam, compost, mulch, sand, stone, or gravel. If you aren't sure how much you need, you can use our online calculator or reach out to our team for a quick recommendation based on your project dimensions. Not sure which product? We can help with that, too!
2. Place Your Order (Your Way)
We make ordering flexible to fit your schedule. You can complete your order using our quick online form, or simply call or text us. If you text or call, a team member will walk you through the details in just a few minutes. TEXT LINE: 689-5777
3. Easy, Secure Payment
If you choose to pay online, payment is taken securely after we finalize your order. We accept all major credit cards online through a payment link, so you don't have to worry about handling cash or checks when the truck arrives. Prefer to pay the driver? No problem! They can accept cash or check payment at time of delivery.
4. Lock In Your Delivery
During checkout, you will indicate your preferred delivery day. While we always do our absolute best to accommodate your desired date, final delivery depends on our current route availability—we will get it to you as soon as our schedule allows. Once your spot is officially locked in, we will keep you completely in the loop. We will send you a confirmation text, followed by a final notification on delivery day so you know exactly when the truck is heading your way.
Phase 2: Delivery Day
Step 1: Prepping Your Drop Zone
Before our truck arrives, you’ll want to prepare the perfect spot for your material.
-
Choose a clear area: Pick a flat, open space on your driveway or property that is easily accessible from the street. Please be sure to look overhead to make sure the dumping spot is clear of branches and power lines.
-
Mark the spot: We highly recommend laying down a tarp to protect your surface and marking the exact drop location with a cone, a sign, or a 5 gallon bucket so our driver knows exactly where to aim. Please make sure to let us know how the spot will be marked so we can notify the driver.
Step 2: Delivery (No Need to Be Home!)
You do not need to be present for your delivery as long as your order is paid in full ahead of time and your drop zone is clearly marked. If you can't be there, just ensure we know exactly how you've marked the spot (e.g., "dropping on the blue tarp by the driveway cone") so the driver can drop it off safely while you go about your day. There are many popular yet vague terms people use such as "end of driveway" or "side of house". Please be specific and tell us which end or side and where to look when facing the house. Even better, text us a picture of where you want it - we love details!
Step 3: Clear the Way
When our dump truck arrives, we need a clear path to ensure a safe and smooth drop.
-
Clear obstructions: Please move any vehicles, basketball hoops, or trash cans out of the driveway.
-
Look up: Ensure there are no low-hanging tree branches or overhead power lines blocking the truck's lifting path.
-
Keep a safe distance: For safety, keep children and pets indoors or well away from the truck while it is operating.
Step 4: The Drop
Our driver will carefully back into position, raise the truck bed, and unload your material into a neat pile. The actual unloading process only takes a few minutes, leaving you with a fresh pile of material ready for your project. Some people ask if tipping the driver is common - while not necessary, it is encouraged because we have awesome drivers!
Step 5: Ready for Work
Once the material is safely on the ground, our driver will head out, and the project is officially in your hands. All that’s left to do is grab your shovel and wheelbarrow and get started!
